FAQ

Why do I need to select an ingredient?

Different ingredients have different densities. 1 cup of flour weighs 125 g, but 1 cup of sugar weighs 200 g. Selecting an ingredient ensures accurate volume-to-weight conversion.

Where does the density data come from?

Values are based on USDA FoodData Central and standard culinary references. These are averages — actual weight may vary slightly depending on how ingredients are measured (sifted, packed, etc.).

Is my data saved?

History and favorites are saved in your browser's localStorage. No data is sent to any server. Clearing browser data will remove saved conversions.

What is a Gas Mark?

Gas Mark is a temperature scale used on gas ovens in the UK and some other countries. Gas Mark 1 = 140 °C (275 °F), Gas Mark 4 = 180 °C (350 °F), Gas Mark 6 = 200 °C (400 °F).
