How It Works

Binaural beats are created when two slightly different frequencies are played in each ear. Your brain perceives a third "beat" at the difference frequency. For example, 200 Hz in the left ear and 206 Hz in the right ear produces a 6 Hz theta beat. Research suggests this can influence brainwave patterns through a process called "frequency following response" (FFR). Different frequency ranges correspond to different mental states: Delta (0.5–4 Hz) for deep sleep, Theta (4–8 Hz) for meditation, Alpha (8–13 Hz) for relaxation, Beta (13–30 Hz) for focus, and Gamma (30–50 Hz) for peak cognition.

How to Use

  1. Put on stereo headphones — binaural beats require separate audio channels for each ear.
  2. Select a brainwave preset or adjust the frequencies manually.
  3. Optionally add pink or brown background noise for a richer sound.
  4. Press Play and relax. Set a timer if you want auto-stop.
  5. To download, open the Export section and choose duration and format.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do binaural beats really work?

Research is mixed but promising. Multiple studies have shown that binaural beats can influence brainwave activity through frequency following response (FFR). Effects vary by individual. They work best as a complement to meditation, relaxation or focus practices — not as a standalone treatment.

Why do I need headphones?

Binaural beats work by delivering slightly different frequencies to each ear. Your brain perceives the "beat" from the difference. Speakers mix the sound in the air, eliminating the stereo separation needed for the effect.

What frequency should I choose?

Delta (0.5–4 Hz) for deep sleep and healing. Theta (4–8 Hz) for meditation and creativity. Alpha (8–13 Hz) for relaxation and calm focus. Beta (13–30 Hz) for concentration and energy. Gamma (30–50 Hz) for peak mental performance.

Can binaural beats help with sleep?

Delta frequency binaural beats (1–4 Hz) have been shown in some studies to promote deeper sleep stages. Try listening for 15–30 minutes before or during sleep with comfortable headphones. Combine with white noise for deeper relaxation.

Is it safe?

Binaural beats are generally safe for most people. However, people with epilepsy or seizure disorders should consult a doctor before use, as rhythmic auditory stimulation may trigger seizures in rare cases.

How long should I listen to binaural beats?

Most studies use 15–30 minute sessions. Recommended durations depend on the frequency: Delta (1–4 Hz) — 30–60 minutes, best for falling asleep; Theta (4–8 Hz) — 15–30 minutes for meditation; Alpha (8–13 Hz) — 15–45 minutes for relaxation; Beta (13–30 Hz) — 15–30 minutes for focus (can repeat after a break); Gamma (30–50 Hz) — 15–20 minutes, the most intense range. There is no evidence that longer sessions are harmful, but benefits tend to plateau after 30–45 minutes. Start with 15 minutes and increase gradually. Taking a break every 1–2 hours is a good practice.
