Online Speaker Test — Left/Right Stereo, Surround 5.1 & 7.1, Frequency Response & Phase Check
Verify your speakers, headphones, or surround system in seconds
Whether you just cleaned your speakers, set up a new audio system, or suspect a wiring issue — this tool helps you check everything. Test left and right channels individually, run surround sound sweeps across all speaker positions, measure frequency response from 20 Hz to 20 kHz, generate custom tones with different waveforms, verify phase polarity, check for blown speakers, and troubleshoot common problems. Works on any device with a modern browser.
Key Features
- Stereo left/right channel test with 8 sound types (tones, sweeps, white/pink/brown noise)
- Ping-pong mode to verify correct L/R assignment
- Phase polarity test to detect inverted wiring
- 5.1 and 7.1 surround sound test with interactive room diagram
- Tone generator with custom frequency (20 Hz–20 kHz) and 4 waveforms (sine, square, sawtooth, triangle)
- Frequency response test with bass, mid, and high range sweeps
- Blown speaker diagnostic to detect buzzing, rattling, or damaged drivers
- Real-time audio spectrum and waveform visualization
- Built-in troubleshooter for common audio problems
How to Test Your Speakers
- Open the Stereo tab and tap "Left" — sound should come from the left speaker only
- Tap "Right" — sound should come from the right speaker only
- Use Ping-Pong to hear sound alternate between left and right
- Switch to the Surround tab for 5.1/7.1 speaker position testing
- Use the Frequency tab to test response ranges, generate custom tones, or check for speaker damage
- If you hear no sound, tap "No Sound?" for step-by-step troubleshooting
Frequently Asked Questions
Can this test real 5.1/7.1 surround?
Browser audio is limited to stereo output. The surround test simulates speaker positions using panning. For true multichannel testing, you need a hardware surround system — the tool will still help verify each position through stereo simulation.
Why do I hear sound from both sides on the Left test?
If sound comes from both speakers when testing Left only, check your audio settings for a "mono" or "channel merge" option and disable it. Also verify your headphones/speakers are properly connected.
What is a phase test?
A phase test checks if your left and right speakers are wired with the same polarity. In-phase audio sounds full and centered. Out-of-phase audio sounds thin, hollow, and lacks bass — indicating one speaker has reversed wiring.
What does the tone generator do?
The tone generator lets you play any frequency from 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz using different waveforms (sine, square, sawtooth, triangle). Use it to test specific frequency ranges, find resonances, or calibrate your audio setup.
How does the blown speaker test work?
It plays a slow frequency sweep through the most revealing range. If your speaker has a torn cone or damaged driver, you will hear buzzing, rattling, or crackling at certain frequencies. Clean speakers produce a smooth, consistent tone.
Does this work on phones?
Yes — it works on any device with a modern browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge) using the Web Audio API. For stereo testing on phones, use headphones.
Is it safe for my speakers?
Completely safe. The tool generates standard audio tones and noise at the volume you set. Start at 50% and increase as needed. The bass test uses 60 Hz which is well within normal speaker range.
Why Use This Speaker Test
No app to install, no registration. Runs entirely in your browser. Free, private (no data sent to any server), and works on any device. Perfect for checking speakers after cleaning, verifying new audio setups, testing frequency response, or diagnosing stereo/surround issues.
