Speaker & Headphone Test Online
A free speaker and headphone tester for verifying left-right channel balance, bass response, and stereo imaging. Play test tones and audio samples to check your audio output.
Verify your speakers, headphones, or surround system in seconds
Verify that your audio setup works correctly. Check individual channels, test surround positioning, measure frequency response, detect phase issues, and diagnose sound problems — all without installing anything.
Phase Test
Checks if left and right speakers are wired correctly. In-phase sounds full and centered, out-of-phase sounds thin and hollow.
Tone Generator
Frequency Response
Test how your speakers handle different frequency ranges. Listen for drops, peaks, or distortion.
Speaker Health Check
Plays a slow frequency sweep. Listen carefully for buzzing, rattling, or crackling — signs of a damaged speaker driver.

What describes your problem?
No sound at all
- Check that your device is not on silent/mute mode (iPhone side switch, Android volume buttons).
- Go to sound settings and make sure the correct output device is selected.
- Try a different browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge).
- Reload the page — your browser may have blocked audio autoplay.
- Restart your device if nothing else works.
Sound from one side only
- Try different headphones or speakers to rule out a hardware issue.
- Check the audio balance in your OS sound settings — it may be shifted to one side.
- Inspect the cable and connector — gently wiggle the plug.
- For Bluetooth: disconnect and re-pair the device.
Distorted or crackling
- Lower the volume — your speaker may be overdriven.
- If your device got wet, use our Speaker Cleaner to eject water.
- Clean the speaker grille with a soft brush to remove dust.
- Check if an equalizer with boosted bass is enabled.
Too quiet
- Make sure volume is at maximum in both the app and system settings.
- Disable "Do Not Disturb" or quiet/sleep mode.
- Clean the speaker grille — dust can muffle sound. Try our Speaker Cleaner.
- Check sound settings for a volume limiter.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can this test real 5.1/7.1 surround?
Browser audio is limited to stereo output. The surround test simulates speaker positions using panning. For true multichannel testing, you need a hardware surround system — the tool will still help verify each position through stereo simulation.
Why do I hear sound from both sides on the Left test?
If sound comes from both speakers when testing Left only, check your audio settings for a "mono" or "channel merge" option and disable it. Also verify your headphones/speakers are properly connected.
What is a phase test?
A phase test checks if your left and right speakers are wired with the same polarity. In-phase audio sounds full and centered. Out-of-phase audio sounds thin, hollow, and lacks bass — indicating one speaker has reversed wiring.
What does the tone generator do?
The tone generator lets you play any frequency from 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz using different waveforms (sine, square, sawtooth, triangle). Use it to test specific frequency ranges, find resonances, or calibrate your audio setup.
How does the blown speaker test work?
It plays a slow frequency sweep through the most revealing range. If your speaker has a torn cone or damaged driver, you will hear buzzing, rattling, or crackling at certain frequencies. Healthy speakers produce a smooth, consistent tone. If you hear buzzing, try the speaker cleaner.
Does this work on phones?
Yes — it works on any device with a modern browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge) using the Web Audio API. For stereo testing on phones, use headphones.
Is it safe for my speakers?
Completely safe. The tool generates standard audio tones and noise at the volume you set. Start at 50% and increase as needed. The bass test uses 60 Hz which is well within normal speaker range.
