    Frequently Asked Questions

    Is this test accurate?

It uses the Web Audio API for precise measurement within browser capabilities. While not a replacement for professional calibrated equipment, it provides reliable comparative results and identifies real problems.

Do you record or store my audio?

No. Everything runs 100% in your browser. Audio is analyzed in real-time and never uploaded.

    What is a good SNR?

Above 40 dB is good for most purposes. Above 50 dB is excellent. Below 30 dB means background noise will be clearly audible.

Why does my mic have electrical hum?

Usually caused by poor USB grounding, proximity to monitors/power supplies, or low-quality cables. Try a different USB port or use a powered USB hub. For detailed diagnosis, run our microphone noise test.

    Can I compare two microphones?

Yes! After the first test, click "Compare with Another Mic" to run a second test and see a side-by-side comparison.

    What browsers are supported?

Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari (14+). We recommend Chrome or Edge for the best accuracy.
