Frequently Asked Questions
What audio metadata can this tool edit?
You can edit all standard tags: title, artist, album, year, genre, track number, comment, composer, album artist, disc number, copyright and ISRC. For MP3 files, both ID3v1 and ID3v2 tags are supported. For FLAC and OGG, Vorbis Comments are read and written. M4A/AAC uses iTunes-style atoms.
Will stripping metadata affect audio quality?
No. Metadata removal uses stream copy (-c copy) — the audio data is transferred byte-for-byte without re-encoding. Only the metadata wrapper is removed, so there is zero quality loss.
Why would I want to remove metadata?
Audio files can contain personal information: your name in the artist field, GPS data from recording apps, software identifiers, timestamps. Stripping metadata before sharing online protects your privacy. It also reduces file size slightly.
Can I edit cover art / album artwork?
Yes. You can view the existing cover art, remove it, replace it with a new image (JPG or PNG), or add cover art to files that don't have one. Cover art changes are processed via FFmpeg without re-encoding the audio.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. All parsing and editing happens locally in your browser using FFmpeg WebAssembly. Your audio files never leave your device, ensuring complete privacy.
Can I process multiple files at once?
Yes. Add multiple files to batch mode, then strip all metadata or apply common edits (artist, album, year) to all files at once. Download results individually or as a ZIP archive.
