Combine two subtitle files into one bilingual SRT or VTT
How to Merge Subtitles
- Upload primary subtitles. Drag and drop or select the main subtitle file (SRT or VTT). This will appear as the top line.
- Upload secondary subtitles. Add the second subtitle file — typically a translation or alternate language.
- Choose settings. Select the separator (new line or dash) between the two subtitle lines.
- Click Merge. The tool matches entries by timestamp overlap and combines them into bilingual pairs.
- Preview and download. Check the preview, then download the merged SRT file ready for your video player.

Features
Frequently Asked Questions
What subtitle formats are supported?
SRT and VTT (WebVTT). The output is always SRT format, which is compatible with virtually all video players and platforms.
What if the two files have different entry counts?
The tool matches entries by timestamp overlap (>50%). Entries from the primary file without a match appear as single-language. Extra entries from the secondary file are added at the end.
Can I use this for language learning?
Yes. Combine original dialogue subtitles with a translation to see both languages simultaneously while watching. This is one of the most effective methods for learning a language through video.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. All processing happens entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Your subtitle files never leave your device.
Can I merge more than two files?
The tool merges two files at a time. To combine three files, first merge two, then merge the result with the third.
Which line appears on top?
The primary file (left upload zone) appears on top, and the secondary file appears below it. In most video players, the last line of a subtitle entry is displayed at the bottom of the screen.
