Frequently Asked Questions
What formats are supported?
Over 40 audio formats: MP3, WAV, FLAC, AAC, OGG, M4A, WMA, OPUS, AIFF, ALAC, APE, AMR, GSM, AC3, DTS and more. The full list is available in the format selector on the page.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
For most formats (MP3, WAV, FLAC, OGG, AAC, WMA, ALAC, OPUS, etc.) — no, processing happens locally in your browser via FFmpeg WASM. Only a few specialized formats (AMR, DTS, SPX, etc.) are temporarily uploaded to the server for conversion.
Which format should I choose?
For universal compatibility — MP3 or AAC. For lossless quality — FLAC or WAV. For Apple devices — M4A or ALAC. For smallest file size — OPUS or OGG. Not sure about your file? Check it with the audio inspector.
Why are some formats unavailable when selecting multiple files?
Server-processed formats (AMR, DTS, SPX, etc.) support only one file at a time. For batch conversion, choose a browser-supported format — they are marked in the format list.
What is the maximum file size?
Each file can be up to 100 MB, with a total limit of 2 GB for all files combined. For server-processed formats, the limit is one file up to 30 MB.
Is this converter really free?
Yes, completely free with no registration, watermarks, or hidden limits. Most conversions happen in your browser — the files never leave your device.
