How is GPA calculated?

Each grade is converted to grade points, multiplied by the course credit hours, and all of those are added up. The total is divided by the total credit hours to give the grade point average.

What is a weighted GPA?

A credit-weighted GPA counts a course in proportion to its credit hours, so a four-credit course affects the average more than a one-credit course. This calculator weights every course by its credits.

What grade points does the 4.0 scale use?

On the common scale A is 4.0, A- is 3.7, B+ is 3.3, B is 3.0, and so on down to F at 0.0. Some schools give A+ a 4.3 — adjust if your institution does.

Can I calculate a cumulative GPA?

Yes. Enter every course from all the terms you want to include, each with its credits, and the result is your cumulative GPA across them.
