Calculate Depth of Field and Hyperfocal Distance
A free depth of field calculator for photographers. Choose your sensor format and set the focal length, aperture and focus distance, and it returns the near and far focus limits, the total depth of field and the hyperfocal distance for that lens and aperture.
How to calculate depth of field
1
Choose your sensor
Pick the format that matches your camera.
2
Set the lens
Enter the focal length and pick the aperture you are shooting at.
3

Hyperfocal distance
Depth of field is the zone that looks acceptably sharp. It depends on the circle of confusion for your sensor — this tool uses a standard value per format. Focusing at the hyperfocal distance keeps everything from half that distance to infinity sharp.
