How to use

Pair the Joy-Con

Hold the small sync button on the Joy-Con rail to enable pairing, then add it from your computer's Bluetooth settings. USB-C also works for the Pro Controller.

Open in Chrome or Edge

Web HID is supported only in Chromium-based desktop browsers. Safari, Firefox and the Switch's built-in browser cannot read controllers.

Click Connect

A device picker will appear. Pick your Joy-Con (L), Joy-Con (R), or Pro Controller. The tool will switch to live diagnostic mode.

Run the drift test

Place the controller on a flat surface, release the stick fully, and click Start. After 3 seconds you will see a verdict and per-stick percentages.

This tool reads your Joy-Con through Web HID. Plug or pair the controller into a PC or Mac, then click Connect.

FAQ

Why doesn't this work in Firefox or Safari?

Web HID is currently a Chromium-only API. Use desktop Chrome, Edge or another Chromium-based browser. We hope that situation changes; until then there is no polyfill that exposes raw HID reports.

Can I run this on the Switch console itself?

No. The Switch's captive browser is locked down and does not expose Web HID. The intended workflow is "test the Joy-Con on a PC or Mac before/after a repair".

How accurate is the drift threshold?

We use 3% as the warning line and 5% as the fail line — these match the consensus across DIY repair guides. A new, healthy stick typically reads under 1%.

Does the Pro Controller work?

Yes. Both sticks and all buttons are detected automatically. The motion sensors and report rate are shown the same way as for a Joy-Con.

Why are some buttons missing?

A single Joy-Con only has half of the buttons — Joy-Con (L) has the left stick, D-pad direction buttons, L, ZL, Minus and Capture; Joy-Con (R) has the right stick, ABXY, R, ZR, Plus and Home. The Pro Controller has the full set.

Can the tool fix my Joy-Con drift?

No, this is a diagnostic. If the test fails, common DIY remedies include compressed-air cleaning of the stick base, isopropyl alcohol around the stick rim, and as a last resort a stick replacement (the part is widely available).
