Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between this and a regular timer?

A regular timer counts down from a number of minutes or hours you enter. This countdown counts down to a specific calendar date and time, which is ideal for events weeks or months away.

Does the countdown keep running in the background?

The countdown runs only while the page is open in your browser. When you come back, it instantly recalculates from the current time, so there is no drift.

Can I share my countdown with others?

Yes. The "Share link" button copies a URL that encodes your event name and target date. Anyone opening that URL sees the exact same countdown, perfectly in sync with their device clock.

Can I show the countdown full-screen on a TV or projector?

Yes. Press the full-screen button to hide browser chrome and display the countdown large across the screen — ideal for weddings, New Year parties, classrooms or live streams.

Which time zone does the countdown use?

The target date and time are interpreted in the viewer's local time zone. For international events, pre-convert the time to each viewer's zone or state the zone in the event name.

Does it work offline?

Yes. Once the page is loaded, the countdown runs in your browser via JavaScript — it keeps ticking even offline.
