Who is this tool for?

Why is the Hijri date different by one day sometimes?

Different Muslim communities follow different methods for determining the start of a Hijri month — some use the Umm al-Qura astronomical calculation, others rely on moon sighting (rukyat). This tool offers both Umm al-Qura and a tabular method; in practice the real date in your country may be ±1 day from either.

What is the Umm al-Qura method?

It is the astronomical calendar used officially in Saudi Arabia and widely referenced by Hijri calendars around the world. It was designed to keep the month-length pattern aligned with the actual lunar cycle over long periods.

Why is Mawlid al-Nabi optional in some countries?

Not all Muslim denominations and countries mark the Prophet's birthday as a public holiday. This tool lists it as an upcoming date so you can plan, but it does not imply any religious ruling.

Can I use this for historical dates?

Yes — the Intl calendar support spans centuries, so you can convert birthdays, anniversaries and historic events. Very early (pre-1900) dates may have small discrepancies depending on the method chosen.
