Count and Analyze Cells from Microscopy Images
A free browser-based cell counter for microscopy images. Upload photos from any microscope and automatically detect and count cells using adaptive thresholding and watershed segmentation. Measure cell areas, analyze fluorescence, calculate concentration, and export publication-ready results.
How to count cells
Drag and drop a JPG, PNG, or TIFF photo from your microscope. Adjust brightness and contrast if needed.
Click Detect Cells for automatic counting. Adjust threshold and size filters to fine-tune. Click to add or remove missed cells.
Download annotated image, CSV data table, or full report. Use hemocytometer mode to calculate cell concentration.

FAQ
What microscopy types are supported?
Brightfield, phase contrast, fluorescence, and any transmitted light microscopy. Works with photos from phone cameras, USB microscopes, and research-grade systems.
How accurate is the cell counting?
For well-separated cells, accuracy is comparable to manual counting. Touching cells are split using watershed segmentation. You can always add or remove cells manually.
Can I calibrate the scale?
Yes. Draw a scale bar on your image and enter the known distance in µm. All area measurements will be reported in µm² instead of pixels.
