How to generate Gridfinity bins
Bins hold things; baseplates are the grid they snap into. Most workshops print one large baseplate per drawer and multiple bins.
Measure your drawer to the nearest 42 mm — a 420 × 420 mm drawer fits a 10×10 baseplate.
Heights are in 7 mm units (the thickness of the baseplate foot). A U3 bin = 21 mm tall, U6 = 42 mm, U12 = 84 mm.
Adds 6 mm diameter × 2 mm deep holes on the bottom — glue in 6×2 mm neodymium magnets for extra hold on a steel tool tray.
Download STL, slice at 0.2 mm layer height and print with PLA or PETG. Most bins print in 1–4 hours depending on size.

Are these bins compatible with existing Gridfinity models?
Yes — the profile dimensions, chamfer angles, and tolerances match the published Gridfinity specification. Bins from Printables, Thingiverse or MakerWorld will snap onto baseplates this tool generates, and vice versa.
What magnet size do I need?
Standard Gridfinity magnets are 6 mm diameter × 2 mm thick neodymium (N35 or stronger). The holes this tool generates match those dimensions. Press-fit or glue with cyanoacrylate.
How do I credit Zack Freedman?
The STL header includes the CC BY 4.0 attribution. If you publish photos or sell prints, credit "Gridfinity by Zack Freedman (CC BY 4.0)" in the description — it is the primary requirement of the licence.
What print settings work best?
0.2 mm layer height, 2 perimeters, 15–25% infill, and PLA or PETG. Bins with thin walls (1.2 mm default) benefit from 3 perimeters for rigidity. Supports are rarely needed.
