Generate Gridfinity-Compatible Storage Bins

Free parametric generator for Gridfinity-compatible bins and baseplates — the modular 42 × 42 mm storage system designed by Zack Freedman (CC BY 4.0). Configure grid size, bin height in 7 mm units, magnet holes, screw holes, stacking lip and label ledge, then export ready-to-print STL. Handles 1×1 up to 10×10 grids for both single bins and baseplates.

How to generate Gridfinity bins

1
Pick type — bin or baseplate

Bins hold things; baseplates are the grid they snap into. Most workshops print one large baseplate per drawer and multiple bins.

2
Choose grid size

Measure your drawer to the nearest 42 mm — a 420 × 420 mm drawer fits a 10×10 baseplate.

3
Set bin height

Heights are in 7 mm units (the thickness of the baseplate foot). A U3 bin = 21 mm tall, U6 = 42 mm, U12 = 84 mm.

4
Add magnet holes (optional)

Adds 6 mm diameter × 2 mm deep holes on the bottom — glue in 6×2 mm neodymium magnets for extra hold on a steel tool tray.

5
Export and print

Download STL, slice at 0.2 mm layer height and print with PLA or PETG. Most bins print in 1–4 hours depending on size.

Build modular workshop storage that snaps to the Gridfinity grid — bins and baseplates, any size, any height.
