FAQ

What format do you verify?

JPEG with a Timbrica Photo Watermark XMP packet. Other formats (PNG, WebP, AVIF) and other signing tools are not supported yet — only files signed via Photo Watermark.

Does my photo leave the browser?

No. The image bytes stay local — only the SHA-256 hash plus the signature and manifest extracted from the XMP packet are sent to the verification API. The server confirms the signature is genuine and the hash matches without ever seeing the file.

What does "invalid" mean?

The XMP packet carries a Timbrica signature, but the SHA-256 of the JPEG bytes no longer matches what was signed. Someone has edited the photo (cropped, re-saved, filtered, watermark replaced) after the credential was attached.
