Projector Gamma Calibration Test

Free fullscreen gamma calibration test for projectors. Includes the four most-used gamma standards: 1.8 (legacy Mac), 2.2 (sRGB / general), 2.4 (Rec.709 dim viewing) and BT.1886 (HDTV cinema reference). Each pattern places a 1-pixel alternating-stripe field next to a solid reference grey computed at that gamma — they should blend at the correct gamma setting.

How to verify gamma

1
Pick γ 2.2

Default for most home cinema and TV content.

2
Step back and squint

Stripes should blur into a grey indistinguishable from the reference half.

3
Try other values

If 2.2 doesn't match, try 2.4 (HDTV) or 1.8 (older Mac).

Visually verify your projector's gamma against industry references

Squint slightly. The alternating-stripes half blurs to a perceptual mid-grey. If your projector's gamma matches, that grey blends with the solid reference. If the stripes look brighter — gamma is too low. Darker — too high.
