What is the difference between Russian and International checkers?

Russian is played on an 8×8 board with 12 pieces a side; International is 10×10 with 20 pieces a side. Both use flying kings and the mandatory-maximum-capture rule. The strategy in International is more positional because of the larger board and more pieces.

How does American (English) checkers differ?

Same 8×8 board and 12 pieces, but kings move only one square at a time (no flying), pawns capture forward only, and the mandatory-capture rule does not require taking the longest sequence.

How strong is the AI?

On Grandmaster level it runs full alpha-beta with iterative deepening, a transposition table, killer-move and history heuristics, and quiescence search through forced capture chains. It usually reaches depth 10–14 in 2.5 seconds — strong enough to beat most casual players.

How does the online mode work?

Browsers connect peer-to-peer via PeerJS through our signaling server. Your moves travel directly between two devices — there are no accounts, just a six-character room code.

Does it work on phones?

Yes. Touch controls, tap-to-move, and a flipped board when you play Black on mobile. Coordinates can be toggled.
