Frequently Asked Questions

How does the visualizer read audio?

The microphone stream is read via the Web Audio API — only frequency/amplitude data is extracted and used to drive the visual effects. No recording is stored.

Why do the visuals not respond to sound?

Make sure you have allowed microphone access in your browser. Check that your microphone is not muted. Try increasing the sensitivity slider. If using a file, make sure the audio is playing.

Can I use this as a screensaver?

Yes! Press S or click the Screensaver button. The visualizer enters fullscreen and automatically cycles through all 8 scenes every 30 seconds. Press Escape or click anywhere to exit.

What browsers are supported?

Any modern browser with WebGL support: Chrome 80+, Firefox 75+, Safari 15+, Edge 80+. Both desktop and mobile browsers are supported.

Can I play my own music instead of using a microphone?

Yes. Switch to Upload File mode and select any audio file (MP3, WAV, OGG, FLAC). The music plays through your speakers while the visuals react to it in real time.

Why are the visuals slow on my device?

The visualizer uses WebGL shaders which require GPU acceleration. On older devices or integrated graphics, performance may be lower. Try closing other tabs and applications to free up GPU resources.
